Twenty years ago, Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast. For so many of us, it was not only a storm of wind and water, it was a storm that exposed the violence of neglect, survival, and broken systems. For me, Katrina became a doorway. It was in the aftermath of that devastation that I first felt called into the healing field to help mend what had been broken, to remind myself and others that wholeness is possible even when the world around us collapses.

Through the years since that time, I've experienced a few of my own "hurricane katrinas"—moments that awakened me to the pain that is both personal and collective. Once I became a mother, I committed fully to my own healing and spiritual wellness. I found myself in healing circles, training rooms, and professional spaces with people from every background imaginable.

What struck me was how similar our struggles were. We'd all inherited stories of scarcity and brokenness that left us spiritually impoverished. Each person had learned as a child that they weren't enoughthat love, safety, and abundance were conditional or scarce. Our personal fears, losses, and grief might have looked different on the surface, but underneath we all carried the same desire: to be well, to thrive, and to finally belong.

The Root of Our Suffering

Through all of this, I discovered that at the root of our suffering is this: we've internalized that we aren't good enough. Shame becomes our companion, and pain becomes our prison, leading us to beliefs and behaviors that disconnect us from each other and ourselves.

We lose sight of our interconnectedness when the truth is our strength comes from embracing our complexities and differences. We've been taught to see through society's funhouse mirrors—distorted reflections that tell us we're too much or not enough and that it's not safe to be our authentic selves. But we heal when we remember ourselves and learn to really see ourselves through the lens of clarity, compassion, and love.

Discovering Whole with Joy

Whole with Joy is how I discovered and learned to cultivate inner belonging in my life. I learned the wealth in remembering all of me, remembering my worth and belonging to something larger than myself. This is when I became whole with joy.

This remembrance taught me that true prosperity isn't just about money—it's about the abundance that flows when we're connected to our wholeness, our community, and our purpose. It's about healing the spiritual poverty that keeps us isolated and struggling.

The Relaunch:

Here I am, twenty years later, once again in hurricane season, following this calling to relaunch Whole with Joy. As you may know, I'm no longer practicing psychotherapy—this new evolution addresses something deeper: healing our fundamental disconnection from spirit, from our true essence, and from the sacred interconnectedness that is our birthright.

In this work, I carry forth wisdom from my own wounds, the transformative journey of motherhood, and the diverse stories and voices I've had the honor to witness—both from those I've been able to support along the way and from my teachers and mentors. This healing is about remembering who you are and cutting through the noise and lies that keep us small. It's about letting your light shine and bringing your joy into the world because being yourself is one of the bravest things you can do.

My Vision for Collective Healing

I wouldn't be able to reach this point without the support of my family, friends, and communities through various growth opportunities. The long-term vision for Whole with Joy is collective healing—creating spaces where we can remember our interconnectedness and break the cycles of spiritual poverty together.

Whole with Joy isn't just a framework; it's a solution to the disconnection from ourselves and the world around us that keeps us all struggling in isolation. I don't know exactly how it all comes together, but I know it has to be built in true community, with all of us contributing our pieces of the puzzle.

Three Pathways of Healing

This work begins September 15th, through three interconnected pathways:

Prosperous You - Prosperity coaching for deep personal transformation

Prosperous We - Nature-based wellness & cultural transformation for organizations

Prosperous Spirit - Sacred gatherings, communal groups & rituals for community healing

Because individual healing and collective healing happen together—each pathway supports the others in building the world we need. When we heal ourselves, we heal our lineages. When we transform our organizations, we transform our communities. When we remember the sacred, we remember our interconnectedness. This is how we create true prosperity not just for ourselves, but for all of us. Twenty years after Katrina, the calling remains the same: to help mend what has been broken and remind us all that wholeness is not only possible, it's our birthright.

Your wholeness isn't something you need to find, it's something you need to remember.
